Talya Mohammed- Sustainable Development Strategist: Talya has had an invaluable and wide-ranging education and work experiences, gained over the past 16 years, in the fields of environmental testing and Management, Health Safety Environmental system approaches, various project-based experiences; whilst  graduated from pioneering programmes of Sustainable Energy Management (ALJGSB Cohort 1) and Environmental and Natural Resource Management (Class1, UWI 2001) with a joint major in Chemistry. In partnership with the municipality in Trinidad, the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation in 2013-2014, she also designed and piloted a recycling project and feasibility study “Separate2Create”. She successfully designed and managed a CSR project and environmental stewardship initiative Ink and Toner cartridges Safe Disposal “ITSD” which received the CSR Environmental Energy Chamber Award 2013. Over this time, she also appeared on various local TV and Radio stations to discuss topics on Recycling, Waste, Conservation and Climate Change. Involvement and attendance at various events such as The AmCham HSSE Conference, The Energy Conference, The Clean Energy Conference, The EMA Green Business Conference and Trade Show and San City Green Expo and last year’s Caribbean Climate Change Conference (2017), to name a few, has been vital to her growth and knowledge capacity on Caribbean culture, barriers and solutions to Climate Change and Sustainable Development. She is passionate about critical decision-making that requires evidence-based approaches to towards changing behaviour. Her consulting work with various NGOs on grant writing, recycling projects, environmental and climate change education, attendance at policy consultations, training workshops and conferences, including but not excluded to Climate Change other conservation and economic challenges; has spanned the last 7 years. Along with 2 years’ work in ICT sector through ISOC-TT Chapter her hands-on learning and work experience is extremely dynamic. She is at the final stage to complete an International Certificate in Event Management (George Washington University, USA/ALJGSB). Under her current portfolio as, Director of Ideas I Foundation, Secretary of Internet Society TT Chapter and Project Coordinator at IAMovement for Climate Talk 2017/2018 and the Organic Garden School Projects (OGSP), her work in sustainable development and climate change advocacy and education through the NGO community and projects is unique and rewarding.
